The need across New York City and New Jersey has never been more urgent. Our neighbors are being pushed into instability faster than systems can respond.

Homelessness is at historic levels:

  • New York City now has 100,000+ people in the shelter system on a typical night, while New Jersey has identified 13,700+ people experiencing homelessness—the highest count in a decade.

  • Nearly 1 in 7 NYC public school students experienced homelessness last year—that’s 157,000 children.

  • NYC’s median rent has climbed to $3,599/month, leaving thousands unable to keep up.

  • Nearly 13,000 residential evictions were carried out in NYC in the first eight months of 2025 alone, and eviction is now a leading cause of homelessness across New Jersey.
