A HIKE TO FIGHT HOMELESSNESS
CEO Josiah Haken, Senior Director of Development Dan Sadlier, and City Relief board members take the first annual trip to climb Kilimanjaro this February 2026.
With the goal of raising 100K, the City Relief team looks to climb the highest mountain in Africa in solidarity with their unhoused friends and City Relief guests that are facing their own hurdles, barriers, and mountains on a daily basis. Our team knows that no one chooses homelessness. Thus, this climb and its proceeds will go to City Relief, providing food, clothing, and individualized care plans helping the homeless of NYC and New Jersey find housing.
The fundraiser is achieved by climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, a dormant volcano located in Kilimanjaro Region of Tanzania.
DEON MINNAAR
For over a decade, I've had the privilege of witnessing firsthand the transformative impact City Relief has in our community. The organization tirelessly works to connect those struggling with homelessness to essential support, providing meals, compassion, and meaningful opportunities that foster change and restoration. Since joining the board in 2019, my passion for City Relief’s mission—to offer hope and help to our most vulnerable neighbors—has only grown. In an effort to further support this amazing work, I am embarking on a climb Mount Kilimanjaro, a personal challenge symbolizing the immense journey our friends on the streets face daily. I invite you to stand with me and City Relief as we reach new heights together, both literally and figuratively. Your generous donation can create pathways of hope, giving voice, victory, and visibility to those in need. Join me in making a tangible difference.
